Maine is known worldwide for its spectacular rugged coastline, with over three thousand islands and picturesque harbors. Maine has several lights known as the Portland Head Light at Fort Williams Park. It was commissioned by George Washington in 1790, and is the oldest in the state. There are sixty working lights up and down the coast of Maine.
The city of Freeport is known internationally for its impressive range of shops selling, making it a shopping mecca international. The main street is home to Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic and the LL Bean flagship store, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year! There is also a Brooks Brothers store and a Jockey. Many of these stores sell selling at a very small, so they are forced to find a bargain or two!
Maine is famous for blueberries and blackberries … blueberry pie … fresh drinking cranberry juice in a summer day … delicious picking wild blueberries.
No mention of Maine is complete without a word about the lobster. Marching steadily through rocky soil of the Atlantic in hopes of traps fishermen local lobster, the crab is delicious gastronomy of the state claim most notable fame. Clams, prawns, scallops and mussels are also in abundance off the coast of Maine, and can enjoy one of the many restaurants along the coast.
